Community Media Learning Hub (CMLH)

Terms of Use and Privacy Overview

1. About the Community Media Learning Hub

The Community Media Learning Hub (CMLH) is provided and administered by the Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO).

The Hub delivers training, learning resources, professional development, sector capability programs and related educational services for people working in, volunteering with, or connected to Australia's community media sector.

CMTO works with sector partners, including the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) and other relevant community media organisations, to develop, deliver and support learning opportunities through the Hub.

By accessing or using the Hub, you agree to these Terms of Use.

2. Use of the Hub

By using the Hub, you agree that you will:

CMTO may suspend, restrict or remove access where these Terms are breached or where continued access may compromise the security, integrity or operation of the Hub.

3. Learning and Assessment Requirements

Users participating in courses, assessments, professional development activities or other learning programs must comply with applicable course requirements and instructions.

Learning activities available through the Hub may include nationally recognised training delivered by CMTO as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), non-accredited training, professional development activities, webinars, resources and other learning opportunities. Additional requirements, eligibility criteria or participation conditions may apply to specific courses, programs, services or qualifications.

Where assessment activities form part of a course or program, learners must submit evidence that is their own work except where collaboration is expressly permitted. Learners may be required to participate in verification activities, provide supporting evidence of authorship or complete additional validation activities to support assessment integrity.

Users must comply with any applicable CMTO policies relating to learner conduct, assessment integrity and the use of artificial intelligence tools, including the CMTO Student Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity Policy where applicable.

CMTO reserves the right to investigate suspected misconduct, plagiarism, assessment misconduct or inappropriate use of artificial intelligence and may take appropriate action, including restricting access to courses, assessments, certificates or the Hub.

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, course materials, resources, assessments, templates, recordings, learning content and supporting materials made available through the Hub are protected by copyright.

Intellectual property remains the property of CMTO, CBAA, partner organisations or the relevant content owner.

Users may access and use materials for their own learning, professional development and community media purposes.

Users must not reproduce, publish, sell, license, redistribute or commercially exploit learning materials without prior written permission from the copyright owner.

5. Third-Party Platforms and Services

The Hub is hosted using Thinkific and may integrate with other third-party systems used by CMTO and its partners.

Access to some services may be subject to the terms and conditions of those third-party providers.

CMTO does not control the operation of third-party systems and is not responsible for outages, interruptions or service changes outside its reasonable control.

6. Availability of the Hub

CMTO seeks to maintain reliable access to the Hub but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Access may occasionally be interrupted due to maintenance, upgrades, security requirements, technical issues or circumstances outside CMTO's control.

CMTO may modify, suspend or discontinue any aspect of the Hub where reasonably necessary.

7. Termination

CMTO may suspend, restrict or terminate a user's access to the Hub where:

Where appropriate, CMTO will take reasonable steps to notify the user of any action taken.

8. Privacy

Personal information collected through the Hub is managed in accordance with the Community Media Learning Hub Privacy Notice and CMTO's Privacy, Information Management and Data Protection Policy.

By using the Hub, you acknowledge that personal information may be collected, used and disclosed as described in those documents.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, CMTO excludes liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Hub, learning materials or related services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian law.

10. Changes to These Terms

CMTO may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in legislation, technology, service providers, operational practices or program requirements.

The current version will be available through the Community Media Learning Hub.

Continued use of the Hub after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of those changes.
